MID- CENTURY PAUL MCCOBB POMONA TILE WALNUT LAMP + CUSTOM SHADE
A rare and impressive Mid-Century Modern large lamp designed by Paul McCobb in 1957 for the Distinguished Designer Series by the Pomona Manufacturing Company, featuring inset "Roulette" glazed ceramic tile in the original red-orange hue. The lamp features a triangular solid walnut body with brass toned decorative elements. The original triangular shade follows the lines of the lamp for a unique and custom look. The lamp has a 3-way capable switch and also includes an additional plugin for tethering another lamp nearby. Other notable designers that were hired to create tiles for the series were Dorothy Liebes, Saul Bass, Paul Laszlo, Millard Sheets, Dong Kingman and George Nelson. The Distinguished Designer Series of Sculptured and Decorator Tiles were sold from 1957-1963.
Dimensions: Height listed below is to the top of the shade; height to socket is 31.5 inches. Shades height 18 inches, width 23 inches.
Condition: Excellent original vintage condition - tested and in working order. US a plug with 3-way switch. Shade in great shape.
